John "Bugsy" Maloney got the bug for playing bass when he went to his first ever live music concert at de Montfort Hall in Leicester. Here he saw Wishbone Ash and marvelled at the skills of bassist and founder member Martin Turner. Nearly three decades later, Bugsy is now delighted to be working with Martin in the producer's chair on a major long-term studio recording project. Bugsy has toured and appeared on TV and radio in USA and Europe, and worked with Don Everley and many, many other music legends. He has played huge arenas and venues on the UK touring circuit including Wembley and the Hammersmith Odeon. Festivals, theatres, clubs and pubs are all treated with the same professionalism by this much sought-after bassist. For the last three years, Bugsy has toured with the Texan underground blues legend Sherman Robertson (who played guitar on Paul Simon’s Graceland album), and he features on Sherman’s latest album recorded live at Kwadendamme Blues Festival in November 2005. “Solid as a rock” is a phrase often bandied about by fellow players when describing Bugsy as both a bassist and member of a band - "It’s not just the way you play it but more importantly, playing it in the spirit that was intended” is how he feels about his role in Parallel Blondie.
